New Year, old challenges?

We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone health and happiness in 2023. We sincerely hope that the coming year is a good one and some of the problems older people and the country at large have faced move into the rear view mirror.

So far the calls we are taking echo lots of the sentiments playing out nationally. Concerns about rising costs and access to healthcare are dominating our phone lines and there is palpable fear amongst older people both for themselves and their loved ones.

We are happy to declare that we are able to continue supporting older people across our wide range of services and are committed to keeping chargeable costs as low as possible (operating a break even model), prioritising speed of interventions (so problems don’t fester) and maintaining a manned phone line with over 90% of calls answered within 15 seconds!

We know that both the little things (like answering a call quickly, or changing a lightbulb, or checking in on someone feeling lonely) and the big things (obtaining benefits, fitting a banister, ensuring people have regular food shopping) matter immensely to older people’s physical and mental wellbeing and we look forward to helping as many of Luton’s older folk as possible in 2023!
